Easter crafts for children: have fun with creativity

Since Easter arrives, it's always fun to think about how to make the atmosphere a little more cheerful. How about creating some creative and easy-to-do Easter chores ? Here are some cute ideas!

In short, there is really a lot of choice when it comes to creative and simple Easter crafts: have fun discovering which one is right for you.

Easter crafts with eggs

Easter eggs are the quintessential symbol and children will love to decorate them with paints, stickers and dried flowers.

To start, don't forget that before decorating the eggs they must be boiled , in order to avoid any breakage. After the boiled eggs have completely cooled down, you can start decorating them.

Here are some simple ideas:

  1. Make cute little bunnies out of the bigger eggs. Take a boiled egg, paint it white and draw two ears, a nose and a tail;
  2. Decorate the eggs with animal-shaped stickers, such as a sheep, bird, or piglet. You can also use feathers to make them look like chickens;
  3. Color the eggs with food coloring to give them a more fun look. This is especially fun if done with the kids;
  4. Use dried flowers and other craft materials to give the eggs a touch of rustic and elegant style. Children can also make little angels with flower petals;
  5. Draw nice figures on the egg such as bees, butterflies or fish. You can also write some funny phrases like "Happy Easter!";
  6. Make an Easter basket with eggs using recycled materials such as paper, fabrics and flowers.

How to decorate Easter eggs with children?

Here's some help on how you might go about it.

  • First, get some white or brown chicken eggs and some acrylic paint . To add a fun touch to painted eggs, you can use stickers, prints, glitter, rhinestones and more to personalize them;
  • For the little ones, however, an easy way to decorate eggs is to use colored pencils . You can draw flowers, little animals, butterflies and then trace the outlines with a black marker;
  • Another idea is to use colored crepe paper to create drawings or geometric figures (like hearts or stars) on the surface of the eggs. You can also use it to tie artificial flowers around eggs;
  • If you have some old storybooks or old magazines on hand, you could cut out this material and glue funny figures or scenes onto the eggs;
  • Children can also learn to apply the decoupage technique on eggs : it involves covering the egg with pieces of colored paper cut into the shape of butterflies, little animals or snowflakes;
  • Another creative way to decorate eggs is to use tempera : mix it with acrylics and then paint on the surface of the egg, having fun creating floral or geometric motifs;
  • Furthermore, there are many creative versions that can be made with recycled material: for example, dried orange peels or pine cones and stones can be used to create very original small decorations.

In short, with a little imagination and a pinch of creativity you and your children can make truly unique Easter eggs.

Easter crafts with salt dough

Salt dough is a versatile material that is easy to work with and is ideal for children. Here are some suggestions:

  • Create some salt dough eggs, decorating with colors and glitter;
  • Make Easter bunnies with salt dough, using a mold or creating the shape by hand;
  • Create balls of salt dough, to use as a decoration for the home or as a placeholder for the Easter table.

Salt Dough Eggs

For your Easter chores, how would you like to create original salt dough eggs? Follow this step-by-step guide and you will prepare unique salt dough Easter eggs:

  • Take a cup of warm water and dissolve a teaspoon of salt in it. Once salt is completely dissolved, add 1/4 cup flour;
  • Mix the ingredients until you get a homogeneous dough. If the dough is too dry, add more liquid, otherwise if it's too soft, add more flour;
  • Then take the dough and place it on a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it becomes thin enough to be worked (about 1-2 mm);
  • Use molds to form the eggs: with a teaspoon, take some of the dough and insert it into the mold. Using your fingers, make sure that the dough adheres well to the shape of the stencil;
  • Once the mold is filled, remove the excess from the edges with a small knife or your fingers. Then gently extract the dough from the mold and place it on the baking tray lined with parchment paper;
  • Make a few holes on the surface of the eggs with the prongs of a fork before putting them in the oven at medium temperature (180°C) for about 15-20 minutes (until they become golden biscuits);
  • When they're ready, let them cool before decorating: paint with colored icing, dust with icing sugar or spread with melted chocolate;
  • Your Easter crafts are ready to be enjoyed!

Easter crafts with paper

Paper is a cheap and easy to find material, ideal for children. For Easter, children can have fun creating beautiful and fun crafts with paper.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Make Easter bunnies out of paper , either using a template or making the shape by hand.
  • Make some paper Easter wreaths , to wear during the party or to use as decoration.
  • Make Easter place cards out of paper , using egg or bunny templates.
  • To make a paper Easter tree , take a sheet of paper and cut it into the shape of a tree. Then take other colored sheets, cut them into the shape of eggs and use them as decorations for the tree.
  • Make Easter eggs out of paper , take a blank sheet of paper and draw the shapes of the eggs on it. Then cut strips of colored paper and use them as decoration.
  • As a last idea, you can make bright paper stars . Draw a star on a white sheet and cut it out. Then take other colored sheets and glue them around the star in order to create a beautiful bright star to hang from the ceiling or on the window to decorate your home during the Easter holidays.

Your kids will have so much fun making these paper crafts!

How do you make paper chicks?

Making chicks out of paper can be a fun activity to do at Easter.

To get started, get cardstock in two different colors: one for the body and one for the pens. Next, cut out two circles of the same diameter to represent your chick's head and body. If you like, you can make small incisions on the edge of the head to represent feathers.

Next, cut out 4 different colored cardstock rectangles from the body as pens. Glue the rectangles to the back of the larger circle representing the chick's body. To create the eyes, take two colored buttons or beads and glue them over your chick's head. Finally, use a black or brown marker to draw the mouth and a small spout under the eyes.

Here is your Easter chick ready! You can make as many as you like and decorate them with bows and other colorful accessories. Another nice idea is to place them on an Easter tree made with recycled material such as cardboard boxes or colored cards: it will be a creative job.

Easter cards, the Easter bunny

To create an original bunny Easter card , cut out the shape of the rabbit from a cardboard, place it on top of the sheet of paper and secure with adhesive tape. Color the Easter card with tempera and wait for it to dry before removing the template. Finally paste the cotton ball.

  • Or, you can make cute little Easter pigs. To make it, take a piece of cardboard, draw the outline of a pig on the surface and cut out the shape. Decorate it with the colors of your choice and add it to a twig to use as an Easter decoration;

Original ideas to decorate the Easter table

With the arrival of Easter there is a festive atmosphere in the air! And what could be better than decorating the table to welcome family and friends? Here are some original ideas to make your Easter table unique and fun.

For a pop of color, use colorful balloons as place cards or centerpieces. You can also use eggs painted in bright pastel colors. If you have kids at home, you could get them involved in this pre-Easter craft by painting eggs together.

Instead of using the usual white tablecloth, choose an Easter-themed tablecloth or something playful and witty. A fun way to create your own tablecloth is to use a large polka dot picnic blanket and draw eggs, bunnies or flowers on it with permanent markers.

You can also make beautiful DIY Easter place cards with satin ribbons, wire and colored bows. For an extra touch you can fill the place cards with sweets or small gifts for your guests. Finally, to give a final touch to your Easter table, don't forget the candles! You can buy floating egg or bunny candles to set in a pretty centerpiece decorated with fresh petals or herbs.

I would like to point out that we have created an article dedicated to Christmas placeholders : you can find it here on the Windowo blog.

What are you waiting for? Take a few hours to prepare a beautiful Easter table.

Easter chore, ideas for school

Here's an idea to make waiting for Easter even more fun in the classroom: some Easter-themed school chores ! Kids will love making cute crafts with their little hands to give to their parents and friends.

For starters, how about a cute Easter bunny ? You need a base of white cardboard, acrylic colors, a little string and a lot of creativity. Let the children paint the card base as they wish, adding noses and ears to the bunny. When the work is dry, wrap a lot of string around the rabbit's neck as if it were a scarf to complete the job.

Or, why not make some Easter eggs ? For this project you will need some empty plastic eggs, some acrylic or pastel colors and a few drops of glue. Kids can enjoy decorating the eggs however they like; when the elements are dry, glue them on the surface of the egg and you will have thus created a fantastic Easter candle holder!

Finally, why not make very original Easter calendars ? It will be sufficient to take some colored paper in a rectangular shape, cut the ends to make it a circular shape and finish the edges with glitter and sparkles. Then have each child draw three nice hens to insert on the calendar; when all the chickens have been drawn, glue them in the center of the calendar and you're done!

With these three simple ideas you will have transformed your classroom into a creative laboratory.

Kindergarten Easter crafts

Easter is upon us and, like every year, it will end with a fun kindergarten Easter craft that will make the children smile.

This year let them create a special Easter egg !

To make it you will need a few simple materials (sheets of colored paper, scissors, glue, adhesive tapes and colours) which the children will use to decorate an empty box or a recycled paper cylinder:

  • Start by drawing a large egg on a sheet of colored paper. Let the children choose the colors and shapes to decorate it: stars, hearts, ribbons and flowers.
  • Cut out the parts of the design to be used as decorations for the empty box and glue with glue. If you prefer, you can also add some dabs with markers.
  • To finish, hang some duct tape around the box to give it some extra flair.

Primary school Easter crafts: egg hunters

Primary school pupils can become real egg hunters on Easter day!

To do this, simply create a treasure hunt within the school . First, however, it will be necessary to organize a competition to build the most beautiful Easter eggs, which must be placed in different points of the building. Each egg will contain clues and small gifts. Kids will have to find all the hidden eggs to win the treasure hunt, plus a few surprises!

During the search, children will be able to have fun and also learn some notions about the history and symbolism associated with Easter.

At the end of the game, the best egg hunters will even be able to win a special prize, perhaps something that can stimulate them to play more outdoors (for example a torch ).
